This photo reveals the real ground level of the David Citadel, and the original height of the floor of the city of Jerusalem. Notice how deep the Romans had buried the city after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. They would have used the hostile plough to commit it to agriculture. If you look closely you can see the original Herodian stones with the bevels around the edges. The rocks below were carved to form a strong base.
