Bubastite Portal

Description

The Bubastite Portal is a stone relief located at the ancient city of Karnak in Egypt. It depicts the Egyptian Pharaoh Shoshenq I and his military conquests, including his invasion of the Kingdom of Judah.

The relief shows Shoshenq holding a group of captives by their hair, and behind him, soldiers carry spears and shields. The portal is notable for containing the earliest-known reference to the “House of David,” providing evidence for the existence of the biblical King David.
