Solomon’s Temple

The temple was the center of religious worship and sacrifice, and housed the Ark of the Covenant, which was believed to contain the tablets of the Ten Commandments given to Moses by God.

The temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE and later rebuilt, only to be destroyed again by the Romans in 70 CE.

Today, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is considered one of the most sacred places in the world, and is a site of religious pilgrimage for Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
