Description

The Uzziah Inscription is an ancient stone tablet inscribed with the words “Hither the excavation” in ancient Hebrew script.

The inscription is believed to have been part of a larger monumental building project undertaken by King Uzziah of Judah during the 8th century BCE. The tablet was discovered in the 19th century near the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and is now housed in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

The Uzziah Inscription is an important archaeological find as it sheds light on the construction activities undertaken during the reign of King Uzziah, who is also mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.
