Description
The Kurkh Monoliths are a set of ancient Assyrian stone slabs that date back to the 9th century BC. The slabs depict important events in the reign of King Shalmaneser III, including battles, treaties, and tribute from vassal states. The monoliths were discovered in the late 19th century near the village of Kurkh in present-day Syria.
The inscriptions on the slabs provide valuable historical and archaeological insights into the Assyrian Empire and its interactions with other ancient kingdoms and empires of the Near East, including the Kingdom of Israel.
