Siege of Lachish Relief

The Siege of Lachish Relief is an ancient Assyrian stone relief that depicts the conquest of the city of Lachish by the Assyrian army during the reign of King Sennacherib in the 8th century BCE.

The relief is carved on a series of large stone slabs and features detailed scenes of Assyrian soldiers attacking the city walls, burning the gates, and engaging in hand-to-hand combat with the defenders. The relief also shows the deportation of the city’s inhabitants and the presentation of tribute to the Assyrian king.

The Siege of Lachish Relief is considered to be one of the most important and impressive examples of ancient Near Eastern art and is on display at the British Museum in London.
