Balawat Gates

Description

The Balawat Gates is a stock image that depicts the magnificent gates of the ancient Assyrian city of Imgur-Enlil, also known as Balawat. The gates were built during the reign of King Ashurnasirpal II in the 9th century BC.

The gates were made of cedar wood and were over 20 feet high, with bronze fittings and inscriptions in Akkadian cuneiform script.

The Balawat Gates are considered one of the finest examples of Assyrian art and craftsmanship and are now housed in the British Museum in London.
