Caiaphas Ossuary

Description

The Caiaphas Ossuary is a stock image that depicts a small limestone box, or ossuary, that was used in ancient times for the storage of human bones.

The box is inscribed with the name “Joseph son of Caiaphas,” leading many scholars to believe that it once held the bones of the high priest Caiaphas, who played a key role in the trial of Jesus as described in the New Testament.

The ossuary was discovered in 1990 in a burial cave in the Kidron Valley near Jerusalem and has been the subject of much study and controversy among archaeologists and biblical scholars.
