Emperor Galba

Description

The stock image depicts the Emperor Galba, who reigned as the Roman Emperor for just seven months, from June 68 AD until his assassination in January 69 AD.

He was appointed by the Roman Senate to succeed the infamous Emperor Nero, who had committed suicide. Galba was an experienced military commander and administrator, but his rule was marked by financial austerity and a lack of popular support. He was also known for his harsh treatment of his enemies and his failure to reward his supporters, which eventually led to his downfall.

The image shows Galba in his military attire or as he appeared in official portraits during his brief reign.
